Baldock Expansion NHC Response

A leaflet from APC regarding the Baldock Expansion was delivered to all homes in the village.

We have received notifications from parishioners to say that when they put their comments to NHC Planning they received the following response. "NHC have no current application and therefore the email would be disregarded".

To counter this response. The Parish Council have written to the Head of Planning and the Planning Department with the following correspondence:

Ashwell Parish Council posted a leaflet to all Ashwell residents informing them of the potential impact that the Baldock Expansion may have on Ashwell. Residents were informed that the consultation process was open until 18th August 2025 and given email addresses of Growing Baldock and NHC Planning to direct their comments.

Parishioners have informed us that when they contact NHC Planning they receive a response stating there is no current application and therefore emails would be disregarded.

The Parish Council request please that NHC Planning be aware of parishioner’s views rather than their responses being filtered through Urban & Civic who may not necessarily convey the points of concern to NHC Panning when it comes to the next stage of the process.

Dog Poo Waste – further update from Ashwell Parish Council.

The Dog poos waste bins are emptied every Monday and we are aware that they become full over the weekend. North Herts Council have informed us that if the waste is double bagged it can be disposed of in residents Purple Bin that shortly comes into use.

Just for information, the cost to the Parish Council’s to empty the eleven bins located around the village on a weekly basis is in excess of £2,000 per year.

Hare Coursing

The Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) have been conducting Operation Galileo (illegal hare coursing) patrols in the area.

Hare coursing is an illegal activity where dogs are used to chase, catch and kill hares, it is a serious problem in some rural areas. Not only does it involve cruelty to wild animals, it is also associated with a range of other criminal activities, including theft, criminal damage, violence and intimidation.

For more information on illegal hunting go to our rural crime page on our website Illegal hunting | Hertfordshire Constabulary.

If you think you are witnessing hare coursing in progress call 999 immediately. Anyone other information should be reported via the non-emergency number 101, or online at www.herts.police.uk/report (or via other Forces online reporting tools).
