Community Governance Review

Please be aware that NHC are commencing a Community Governance Review for the whole district which focuses on parish level electoral arrangements.

Following the Local Government Boundary Commission for England review of district electoral arrangements, it is necessary to review parish arrangements across the district to bring them into alignment, ensure they remain fit for purpose, and reflect local needs.

The first stage of the review is to consult, and the council is inviting residents, parish councils and any interested parties to have their say on current arrangements as well as suggestions for future arrangements via a survey which is open until 7 October.

This is an opportunity to suggest changes you would like to see in your area, and can be on any aspect of community governance, including: • The creation or naming of a parish • The establishment of a separate parish from an existing parish • Alteration of parish boundaries • Abolition or dissolution of a parish • Changes to parish electoral arrangements (the number of councillors to be elected to the council, the year when the ordinary election of parish councillors is held, whether the parish should be divided into wards, or parish groupings).
