Wednesday 22 March – Annual Parish Meeting – Ashwell School, 8pm

It’s your annual opportunity to hear about and comment on key activities that have happened in 2022 in Ashwell, and what’s likely to occur in 2023. Items for discussion include:

• Parish Finances and Budget for 2023/4
• Ashwell Community Land Trust – its objectives and how you can influence its actions
• New Superfast broadband network
• Ashwell environment and sustainability

Ashwell recreational facilities – fundraising targets

• Any other items of interest or concern to residents

Thursday 04 May - Parish Election – Parish Councillors Needed

Parish councillors are elected by the public every four years. The date for the next parish council election in this parish is Thursday 4^th May.

Why we need a Parish Council

Without a fully functioning Parish Council decisions about investment and maintenance of the Ashwell assets currently managed by the Parish Council would be taken by North Herts Council. Standards would not necessarily be maintained.

Being a parish councillor is an unpaid position. The councillors meet monthly, on a Wednesday evening, but most other duties can be carried out to fit in with ‘normal’ life.

Why become a Parish Councillor

• Meet and work with like-minded people
• Use your experience and skills for the benefit of the community
• A great way of becoming involved and more integrated in village life
• Promote/pursue your interests and/or concerns and those of other village residents
• Influence community focus on transport, environment, sustainability, services, and development
